A Potli is a Bundle.
In the world as it is today, managing waste and upcycling it is such a vital need. In any clothing workshop, fabric leftovers and waste is a reality. Looking for ways to manage this led us to create our Potla Potli project.
We feel handmade textiles are precious because they are not only about the cloth. They are as much about the craftspeople and communities that weave them. Patience, skill and love goes into every thread.
We cannot bear to throw away even a scrap and keep all the bits and peices. We sort them by color or pattern and make them into little potli bundles.
At the end of a season, we patch together these leftover textiles into beautiful, limited edition, garments and products. We mix and match the potlis to acheive the perfect combinations. Each piece is unique as the mix of leftovers vary. We love that they are so appreciated and often the first to sell out!
We also use our scraps to trim ongoing collections and repair old peices. Most Kishmish garments have some Potla Potli detail on it! We feel this adds a special touch!
This project gives us much joy. It is our little effort towards sustainability and a cleaner planet.
