To rafu is to darn.
The Kishmish Rafu Scratch Stitch has become our symbol of “restore, refurbish, repair”.
It was originally used to darn old or torn Kishmish garments. Our sewing team did the repair work so neatly, that it looked beautiful & often made the garment more interesting.
We just loved it and decided to use it as a detail!
Traditionally darning is done by hand. However in our studio we do it on the same foot pedal machine used to stitch all our Kishmish clothing.
This charming detail can be found on many Kishmish garments, sometimes easy to spot & sometimes hidden.
